We dreamed up this idea in 2023 while attempting to shop for home decor, and brought it to life in 2024 with hopes of helping lift friends out of their service jobs. This platform is designed to solve two major problems at once.
One: all the posters, prints, paintings, and canvasses on Etsy were incredibly basic. I spent hours in fetal position on my couch looking for something—anything—to put on my wall that made me feel like my bedroom was my own. Spoiler: all the good stuff is deep in artists’ instagram accounts, available only at limited times. Or, it’s at a gallery in NYC and it’s $2700.
Two: our artist friends are tasked with constantly investing in their own prints, their own websites, their own marketing, and their own shipping. What's more, they still rely on Instagram’s algorithm just to get their work seen. GayWall aims to take the non-artsy parts of the business off their hands. If we do our jobs right, we can put more money in real artists’ pockets so they can afford to put their energy into their work.
